BCII Mission

Develop the capacity of school leaders, LTs and schools to build a culture of teaching and learning that continuously improves student achievement in all classrooms for all students.


BCII Vision

Build the capacity of participating schools to establish and sustain a powerful school culture focused on the evolving challenges and problems of practice associated with school improvement. They will exit the program with the capacity to independently continue the work and training of future teams.


BCII Values

• Educators have a moral commitment to the learning of every student at rigorous levels;
• We are all teachers and learners in the developmental journey of learning to meet the educational needs of all students;
• A culture of psychological safety must be nurtured to enable teachers and students to take risks and learn:
• We must hold ourselves accountable for the achieving measurable results of student learning; and
• Classrooms and teachers can no longer operate in isolation but endeavor to establish instructional norms across the school.

Theory of Action

BCII schools will improve instruction, student learning and student achievement by:

Student Learning

Teachers experiment with new ways of interacting with content and students to raise the level of academic tasks and realize the school’s instructional vision.

Team Processes and Beliefs

Teacher teams work to realize instructional vision through discussions and evaluation of student work, assessment data and curriculum and plan instruction.

Whole School Improvement Efforts and Org Processes

Faculty has clear strategy for realizing vision and coordinate curriculum, instruction and initiatives with this focus.

Leadership Practices

Leaders articulate a clear vision for instruction, create supportive learning conditions, hold teachers accountable for realizing vision.
